Motorsport manager 2 track setups3/10/2024 That year, Hamilton approached McLaren Formula One team boss Ron Dennis at the Autosport Awards for an autograph and said: "Hi. Two years later, he became the youngest driver to win the British cadet karting championship at the age of ten. Hamilton began karting in 1993 and quickly began winning races and cadet class championships. In February 2001, he began studies at Cambridge Arts and Sciences (CATS), a private sixth-form college in Cambridge. Hamilton, an Arsenal fan, said that if Formula One had not worked for him, he would have been a footballer or a cricketer, having played both for his school teams. In addition to racing, he played association football for his school team with eventual England international, Ashley Young. He was also excluded from school for a period when he was mistakenly identified as having attacked a fellow student who was treated in hospital for his injuries. Hamilton has said that at the age of five he took up karate to defend himself as a result of bullying at school. Hamilton was educated at The John Henry Newman School, a voluntary aided Catholic secondary school in Stevenage. He continued to be Hamilton's manager until early 2010. Hamilton's father later set up his own IT company. To support his son, Hamilton's father took redundancy from his position as an IT manager and became a contractor, sometimes working up to four jobs at a time including employment as a double glazing salesman, dishwasher, and putting up signs for estate agents, while still attending his son's races. Hamilton's father bought him a go-kart for Christmas when he was six and promised to support his racing career as long as he worked hard at school. Being the only black child racing at his club, Hamilton was subjected to racist abuse. Hamilton finished second in the national BRCA championship the following year against adult competition. Hamilton's father bought him a radio-controlled car when he was five. Hamilton then lived with his father, stepmother Linda, and his half-brother Nicolas, who is also a professional racing driver. Hamilton's parents separated when he was two, after which he lived with his mother and older half-sisters, Samantha and Nicola, until he was twelve. His father, Anthony Hamilton, is black and is of Grenadian descent, while his mother, Carmen Larbalestier, is White British, and from Birmingham, making him mixed-race Hamilton has identified as black. Hamilton was born on 7 January 1985 in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Hamilton was listed in the 2020 issue of Time as one of the 100 most influential people globally ( Time 100), and was knighted ( Knight Bachelor) in the 2021 New Year Honours.Įarly life and education Hamilton celebrating with his father and then-manager Anthony Hamilton after the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix He has also become a prominent advocate in support of activism to combat racism and push for increased diversity in motorsport. Hamilton has been credited with furthering Formula One's global following by appealing to a broader audience outside the sport, in part due to his high-profile lifestyle, environmental and social activism, and exploits in music and fashion. His third and fourth consecutive titles followed in 20 to equal Schumacher's record of seven drivers' titles. Following teammate Rosberg's retirement in 2016, Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel became Hamilton's closest rival in two championship battles, in which he twice overturned mid-season point deficits to claim consecutive titles again in 20. Consecutive titles came in 20 during the intense Hamilton–Rosberg rivalry. After six years with McLaren, Hamilton signed with Mercedes in 2013.Ĭhanges to the regulations for 2014 mandating the use of turbo-hybrid engines saw the start of a highly successful period for Hamilton, during which he won six further drivers' titles. In 2008, he won his maiden title in dramatic fashion-making a crucial overtake on the last lap of the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix, the last race of the season-to become the then-youngest ever Formula One World Champion. In his inaugural season, Hamilton set numerous records as he finished runner-up to Kimi Räikkönen by one point. This led to a Formula One drive with McLaren- Mercedes from 2007 to 2012, making him the first black driver to race in the series. In Formula One, Hamilton has won a joint-record seven World Drivers' Championship titles (tied with Michael Schumacher), and holds the most number of wins (103), pole positions (104), and podium finishes (197), among other records.īorn and raised in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, Hamilton joined the McLaren Young Driver Programme in 1998. Message text art copy paste3/10/2024 An ASCII comic is a form of webcomic which uses ASCII text to create images. Along with ASCII's use in communication, however, it also began to appear in the underground online art groups of the period. The limitations of computers of that time period necessitated the use of text characters to represent images. The widespread usage of ASCII art can be traced to the computer bulletin board systems of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Note that it was not ASCII art in a sense that the 1403 was driven by an EBCDIC-coded platform and the character sets and trains available on the 1403 were derived from EBCDIC rather than ASCII, despite some glyphs commonalities. At the same time, Kenneth Knowlton was producing realistic images, also on line printers, by overprinting several characters on top of one another. In the 1960s, Andries van Dam published a representation of an electronic circuit produced on an IBM 1403 line printer. What is known is that text images appeared frequently on radioteletype in the 1960s and the 1970s. However, none of the "old" RTTY art has been discovered yet. According to a chapter in the "RTTY Handbook", text images have been sent via teletypewriter as early as 1923. RTTY stands for Radioteletype character sets such as Baudot code, which predated ASCII, were used. TTY stands for "TeleTYpe" or "TeleTYpewriter", and is also known as Teleprinter or Teletype. Since 1867, typewriters have been used for creating visual art. History Calligram of the constellation " Sirius" from a 9th-century astronomical manuscript Typewriter art A portion of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, 6 January 1875, showing advertisements made from typewriter art. ASCII art was also used in early e-mail when images could not be embedded. Also, to mark divisions between different print jobs from different users, bulk printers often used ASCII art to print large banner pages, making the division easier to spot so that the results could be more easily separated by a computer operator or clerk. ĪSCII art was invented, in large part, because early printers often lacked graphics ability and thus, characters were used in place of graphic marks. "Studies in Perception I" by Knowlton and Leon Harmon from 1966 shows some examples of their early ASCII art. Most examples of ASCII art require a fixed-width font (non-proportional fonts, as on a traditional typewriter) such as Courier for presentation.Īmong the oldest known examples of ASCII art are theĬreations by computer-art pioneer Kenneth Knowlton from around 1966, who was working for Bell Labs at the time. ASCII art can be created with any text editor, and is often used with free-form languages. The term is also loosely used to refer to text-based visual art in general. ANSI art The alphabet in Newskool (Note: artificially shrunk vertically) Dag Hammarskjöld, printout from teleprinter 1961–62ĪSCII art is a graphic design technique that uses computers for presentation and consists of pictures pieced together from the 95 printable (from a total of 128) characters defined by the ASCII Standard from 1963 and ASCII compliant character sets with proprietary extended characters (beyond the 128 characters of standard 7-bit ASCII). This helps to control the number of wolf pups also called whelps, so there will be adequate food available to them. Arctic wolves are known to stay with one mate. In a pack of Arctic wolves, only the alpha of the pack will mate with the beta female. Next time you go to the store, look in the meat department and see just what 20 pounds of meat actually looks and feels like! Reproduction and Lifespan An Arctic wolf is able to eat about 20 pounds of animal meat in one feeding period. A large mammal will be eaten by a pack of wolves over the course of a week or so. A pack of wolves will work together to single out a weak member of a herd of caribou or muskoxen to capture. So, you may be wondering how a single Arctic wolf could hunt and kill large mammals. An Arctic wolf is smaller than its close relative, the gray wolf. What do Arctic wolves eat? Arctic wolves eat Arctic hares, caribou, lemmings and muskoxen. The ground in these Arctic areas is always frozen making it impossible for them to dig traditional dens. Instead of living in dens in the ground, Arctic wolves live in caves or seek shelter in outcroppings of rocks. Since they live in these arctic regions year round and these regions have regions have long dark periods that last about 5 months, these wolves have adapted to living in the dark and in the cold. The Arctic wolf lives in the arctic regions of North America and Greenland. Normally, people don’t want to travel to these cold places! They are not aggressive animals unless they are defending their territory from a wolf or another animal. These wolves live in incredibly cold climates, so they rarely encounter people. You may think of a wolf as a solitary animal, but Arctic wolves travel in packs of six or so. The fastest recorded speed of an Arctic wolf is 46 mph. Divx converte and ffmpeg3/10/2024 You may need to add -target pal-dvd to the above command to force a certain buffer size. For example: ffmpeg -i "in.wmv" -f lavfi -i aevalsrc=0 -shortest -c:v mpeg2video -qscale:v 2 -c:a libmp3lame "out.mpg" Use -f lavfi -i aevalsrc=0 to generate a silent audio stream. Messing with the number of B-frames, motion estimation method or GOP size may tweak the quality a little but won't result in big changes. If you don't care for the bitrate start with 2 and see if that works for you. The number here ranges from 1 to 31 and higher means lower quality. MPEG-2 is really not very compression-efficient and works better at higher bitrates. Remember that DVDs use MPEG-2 and come in about 4.7 GB for 2hrs of movie, so you end up with around 5–8 MBit/s. For example, use -b:v 6000k -target pal-dvd.įor 720p, I think that you should still use a higher bitrate. You need at least double that or even more to make the result look good. If it's HD video, you will not get far with only 2.5 MBit/s. You have a few options if you want to stick with MPEG-2: MPEG-2 is also not the best choice as a codec these days. The problem is that the default bitrate for the MPEG-2 is rather low (as with most other video encoders in ffmpeg, the H.264 one being an exception). I am using a Zeranoe FFMPEG build on Windows 7. (in.mpg are the files produced by the same FFMPEG binary and the same source WMV file using the first two commands in the question). Gives "buffer underflow" and "packet too large" errors. I have generated a same-length (second-precise) silence OGG Vorbis file using Audacity but I can't manage to merge it with the video: ffmpeg -i in.mpg -i silence.ogg -c:v copy -c:a libmp3lame out.mpgĪnd even bare ffmpeg -i in.mpg -c:v copy -out.mpg What parameters do I have to use to save as much quality as possible? Compression ratio doesn't matter at all, even increase in file size is acceptable.Īnther thing I actually need (I have chosen not to include it in the question title to avoid making it too specific but I'd appreciate it being considered in the answers) is adding pure silence as a sound track - there is no sound in the original but the TV set complains about it and I'd like to get rid of this complain. (I have found this somewhere in the Internet and modified a little bit - changed the resoultion, the refresh rate and the output format (from VOB to bare MPG)) succesfully but the quality is still too bad. I have also tried ffmpeg -i "in.wmv" -c:v mpeg2video -pix_fmt yuv420p -me_method epzs -threads 4 -r 30.000030 -g 45 -bf 2 -trellis 2 -cmp 2 -subcmp 2 -s 960x720 -b 2500k -bt 300k -async 1 -y "out.mpg" I have managed to to the job with simple ffmpeg -i "in.wmv" -c:v mpeg2video "out.mpg"īut the quality of the result is dreadful (clearly visible visual distortions are introduced) and the playback is not smooth (too slow at some moments). I have got a WMV (v9 (WMV3), 960x720, 30.000030 fps, planar 4:2:0 YUV, produced by PowerPoint 2010) file and need to convert it to MPEG2 - the only format my TVset can read from an USB flash drive (I have also tried MP4/h.264, AVI/XVID - nothing but MPEG2 works). |
